Ballet Performance “Hansel and Gretel” Premieres in Burgas

Burgas Opera too Premiere New ‍Ballet Adaptation of Hansel ‍and Gretel

Burgas, Bulgaria – The State Opera-Burgas will premiere a ⁤new ballet adaptation of the classic fairy tale ‍ Hansel and Gretel ‍ on October 25th‌ at 11:00 AM. The production offers a unique interpretation of‌ the story, shifting focus from parental abandonment to ⁢the dangers of superficial temptation,⁤ embodied by the figure of⁢ Baba Yaga and her alluring house.

This adaptation diverges from customary tellings, ⁢emphasizing the children’s encounter with temptation rather than their expulsion by their parents. According to the production’s⁢ director, ⁣the Baba Yaga’s house serves as a symbol of this temptation,‍ “a shiny sheath and treats” masking hidden intentions. “The‌ message is not to lie in appearance,” the ⁣director explained, adding, “behind the ‌beautiful ⁣facade ‍there are often hidden intentions. And ⁢in the real life around us, as well as in fairy tales, not everything that looks tempting is ‍good for ‍us.”

The premiere is part of a busy ‍period for the director, who is simultaneously working on the film Nestinarian, the opera Palechka, and the organization of the Super Talent competition for ⁤dancers. Additionally, the director is preparing ‌for “Burgas Dance,” a non-competitive event on December 13th at the⁣ State Opera-Burgas,designed to unite and showcase‍ the city’s diverse dance community. Balancing creative work with‍ family life, the director stated, “At ⁢this point, I look ⁤to distinguish⁤ them, and my personal life is a priority. But with good organization, everything happens‍ because I love my job very much and it is my great love.”

The ‌director invites audiences to attend the premiere, promising ‍a “magical world” and an escape from everyday life through the power of dance.
