Nor’easter Threatens US East Coast with Heavy Rain and Flooding

A potent⁤ nor’easter ​is forecast to bring heavy rainfall, strong winds, and potential ⁤coastal ‌flooding to a large swath of ⁢the U.S. East Coast this weekend.​ The storm is expected to impact areas ⁣from eastern North Carolina to⁤ central New Jersey, with the most ⁣significant effects⁣ anticipated in North Carolina and‌ New‌ Jersey.

The approaching system threatens localized flash⁣ flooding across affected areas as several inches of rain are predicted ​from Friday through early next week. Parts of the Outer Banks ‍of North Carolina and southern Virginia could receive up to 6 inches ⁢of ‍rainfall ‍within⁣ a few days,⁣ particularly if the storm‍ stalls. Coastal regions, including the Outer Banks and nearby areas,⁢ are also bracing ‌for a multi-day ⁤coastal flooding event, with tide levels⁢ nearing monthly highs⁢ later this week ​and into the weekend.

Winds will increase along the coast starting Friday, peaking​ late ⁤Saturday and early Sunday. The Outer Banks may experiance gusts up to 80⁤ km/h, while eastern North Carolina could see winds between 32 and 64⁢ km/h.

Following the storm’s departure or dissipation, a ‍temporary break in​ the weather ‍is possible. however, forecasters⁤ predict another unusual heat wave will arrive‌ in⁤ the‍ region⁢ by the‌ end of next week.
