Reichardt Defends Past messi Criticism Amid Viral Backlash
BUENOS AIRES – Karen Reichardt, La Libertad Avanza candidate for national deputy for the province of Buenos Aires, addressed resurfaced social media posts from 2016 in which she expressed support for Lionel Messi following his retirement from the Argentinian national team. the posts, circulating widely on X (formerly Twitter), show Reichardt defending messi after argentina’s loss to Chile in the Copa América final on penalties.
“I was going to cover their mouths by showing my support for Messi in 2016,representing the merit of the Argentine,everything that we liberals support!” Reichardt wrote in one of the posts.
The controversy erupted as Reichardt gained prominence as a political candidate. She first became known on television in the late 1980s wiht appearances on notesleep, followed by roles in comedy adn entertainment programs like Nothing is Worse and Tail Brigade. She also appeared in films Night Tacher (1993) and Passion of Crowds (1995). Later, she hosted television programs Fanatics and Love Dogs. She is also known for appearing on the cover of Playboy.
In recent years, Reichardt aligned herself with the libertarian ideas of President Javier Milei and joined La libertad Avanza (LLA). she was initially listed as the second candidate for national deputy in Buenos Aires, behind José Luis Espert. Following Espert’s resignation amid investigations into alleged links with businessman Federico “Fred” Machado, the Electoral Justice ruled that reichardt would head the Buenos Aires list, rejecting an attempt by the ruling party to install Diego Santilli in the top position.
