Ferencvaros Secures Second Straight Champions League win, Dominates Krim Mercator
Ljubljana, Slovenia – Ferencvaros earned a decisive victory against Krim Mercator in the 2025/26 EHF Women’s Handball champions League, continuing thier winning streak after a previous victory. The final score marked one of Ferencvaros’ largest margins of victory against Krim, surpassed only by a 37-26 win in 2023.
The match began as a defensive contest, with both teams initially struggling to score. Krim Mercator’s goalkeeper, Maja Vojnovic, made early saves, but the team’s attacks were repeatedly thwarted. A pivotal shift occurred with Ferencvaros goalkeeper Laura Glauser’s performance, recording 17 saves for a 43.59% save efficiency.
Ferencvaros capitalized on this momentum, launching a five-goal streak and establishing control. Former Krim Mercator player Daria Dmitrieva contributed seven goals against her previous team, helping Ferencvaros finish the first half with a 19-12 lead.
Krim Mercator struggled to regain their rythm in the second half, while Ferencvaros continued their offensive pressure. Emily Vogel led Ferencvaros with eight goals, becoming the team’s top scorer. The score widened to double digits, effectively sealing the win.

“Today’s game was the first Champions League game were we showed strength for the full 60 minutes this season,” stated Ferencvaros left-back Emily Vogel to the European Handball Federation. “It was the two points we most deserved this season. We played really well. The defence was aggressive and the offense showed a lot of speed. Scoring efficiency was also good. I’m really happy today as I was able to build a big lead step by step.”
krim Mercator coach Žiga Novak acknowledged his team’s performance fell short. “Our team can do much better. Regardless of the final result, what bothers me most is that the score gap widened so quickly. There is no clear answer as to why this happened, but I am sure we will do better in the future. We will continue to work to improve and fix certain areas.”
The loss places Krim Mercator in last place (8th) mirroring their start to the 2015/16 season, marked by four consecutive losses.
