Ferencvaros Beats Krim Mercator, Secures Second Champions League Win

Ferencvaros Secures ‌Second Straight⁣ Champions League win, Dominates Krim Mercator

Ljubljana, Slovenia – Ferencvaros earned⁤ a decisive victory against Krim Mercator in the 2025/26 EHF Women’s Handball champions League, continuing thier winning streak after a previous victory. The final score ‌marked ‌one of Ferencvaros’⁣ largest margins of victory against Krim,surpassed only by a 37-26 win in 2023.

The match began​ as a defensive ‌contest, ⁣with both teams initially struggling to score. Krim Mercator’s goalkeeper, Maja Vojnovic, made early saves, but the ‌team’s attacks were repeatedly thwarted. A pivotal ⁢shift occurred with Ferencvaros goalkeeper Laura​ Glauser’s performance, recording 17 saves for a 43.59% save efficiency.

Ferencvaros capitalized on this momentum,‍ launching a five-goal streak and establishing control. Former Krim Mercator player Daria Dmitrieva contributed seven goals ‍against her previous team, helping ⁢Ferencvaros ​finish the first half with a 19-12 ⁣lead.

Krim Mercator struggled to regain their ‍rythm in the second‌ half,while Ferencvaros continued their offensive pressure. Emily ⁢Vogel led Ferencvaros⁤ with eight goals, becoming⁤ the team’s ⁤top scorer. The score widened to double digits, effectively sealing the win.

Ferencvaros’ scoring was rounded ⁢out by Dmitrieva (7 goals) and Katrin Gitta Klujber (5 goals). Tamara Horacek was Krim ‍Mercator’s leading scorer with⁤ seven goals.

“Today’s game was the first Champions League game were⁤ we showed strength for the full 60⁤ minutes this season,” ⁢stated Ferencvaros left-back Emily Vogel to the European Handball Federation. “It was the ⁢two points we most deserved this season. We‍ played really well. The defence was aggressive and the offense showed a lot of speed. Scoring efficiency was also good. I’m really ‍happy today as I was able ​to build a big⁤ lead step⁤ by step.”

krim Mercator coach⁤ Žiga Novak acknowledged his team’s⁢ performance fell short. “Our team can do much better. Regardless of the⁤ final result, what bothers me most⁣ is‌ that the score gap⁢ widened so quickly. There is no clear answer as to why this happened, but I am ⁢sure we will do better in the future. We ‌will continue to work to improve and fix certain ⁣areas.”

The loss places Krim Mercator in last place (8th) mirroring their ⁣start to the 2015/16 season, marked by four consecutive losses.
