Presidential Spokesperson apologizes for Failed K-Food Promotion, Suggests ‘Cold Boy’ Appearance to Mend Fences
Seoul, South Korea – Park Soo-hyun, a spokesperson for President Lee Jae-myung, issued a public apology on Facebook october 7th regarding a planned Chuseok special production focused on promoting Korean food (K-food) through an over-the-top (OTT) platform. The initiative, conceived following discussions with actors Jang Dong-hyuk and Joo Jin-woo, ultimately failed to materialize, leading to the apology.
The original plan, according to Park, stemmed from President Lee’s strong emphasis on expanding K-food’s reach through export and industrialization. However, concerns raised by Jang Dong-hyuk and Joo jin-woo regarding the use of the term “K-food” led to its abandonment. Park expressed regret that the effort to provide a festive chuseok mealtime boost had fallen short, and jokingly suggested a joint appearance with the actors in the television show “Cold Boy” as a potential remedy.
this apology follows accusations of defamation leveled by Joo Jin-woo against President Lee Jae-myung’s spouse, alleging false claims regarding the timing of a cooling offshore shooting trip. According to Joo, the presidential couple’s representatives, spokesperson Kang Yoo-jeong and senior spokesperson Park Soo-hyun, falsely asserted the shooting occurred after a fire at the National Intelligence Resources Management Service (National Resources) facility, attempting to conceal the actual timeline. Both Joo Jin-woo and jang Dong-hyuk have denied these claims.
