Czech Series Substitutes Wins Top Prize, boosting Prima TV’s International Profile
Plzeň, Czech republic – Prima TV is celebrating a meaningful win for its original series Substitutes, which took home the Golden Kingfisher award for Best TV and Film Project at the Final Pilsen festival. The victory underscores the growing quality of Czech television production and positions Substitutes as a contender on the international stage.
The series’ success extends beyond the festival circuit, having also earned actress Iva Janžurová a nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Serial Work at the Czech Lion Awards. The jury at Final Pilsen praised Substitutes for its “masterful use of creative vocabulary” and its ability to “stand up to international comparison” through its fresh characters and skillful storytelling – a major achievement for Prima TV.
Director Nellis emphasized the series’ ability to tackle serious themes with humor and exaggeration. Substitutes is currently available exclusively on the Prima+ platform,where it is attracting a large audience.
