FHSU to Host Presentation on Relationship Violence Prevention with Jana’s Campaign Founders
HAYS, Kan. – Fort Hays State University (FHSU) will host drs. Curt and Christie Brungardt, founders of Jana’s Campaign, for a public talk on Friday, Oct. 10, addressing the realities of relationship violence and strategies for prevention. The presentation, titled “Behind Every Statistic is a Story,” comes during Domestic Violence Awareness Month and aims to move beyond data to highlight the human impact of abuse.
The Brungardts established Jana’s Campaign in 2008 following the tragic death of their daughter,Jana Mackey,a 25-year-old law student at the University of Kansas,at the hands of a former boyfriend. The institution is dedicated to preventing relationship-based violence through education, advocacy, and leadership development. The talk will explore the far-reaching impact of relationship violence and how individuals can contribute to safer communities, both on campus and beyond.
The presentation will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Trails Room of the Memorial Union. A light lunch will be provided.
