Women’s Tennis Wins 3-0 vs. Murray State at Lipscomb Duals

Belmont Women’s Tennis​ Dominates Murray State in Doubles ⁤Play at Lipscomb Hidden Duals

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont University women’s tennis secured​ a ‍clean sweep of doubles matches against Murray State on Sunday ‍at the ‌Lipscomb Hidden Duals.⁤ Despite originally being scheduled for ⁤singles competition against Lipscomb, ‌the Bruins focused solely on doubles play, emerging victorious in all three contests.

The results mark a strong showing for Belmont as they conclude their⁢ fall tournament schedule in two weeks. The team’s performance‌ provides valuable competitive experience heading into the Intercollegiate Tennis ⁢Association (ITA) Ohio Valley Regional Championships, hosted by the University of ‌Tennessee from October 16-21. This tournament will test the Bruins against top regional competition​ and offer opportunities for individual and team growth.

Savannah Webster and Jessica Popiol led the ​charge for​ Belmont, defeating Yuna Kadowaki and Yu Kikawa of Murray State with a‌ decisive 6-2 victory. Cielo Tapia-cruz and ‌Ketevan Jeladze followed with a hard-fought 7-6 (4) win over Bruna Melato ⁢and Rebecca Widan. The final doubles match saw Emma Grant and Annika Warkentin triumph over Molly Null and Arden Dethridge, 6-3, completing‍ the sweep‍ for Belmont.
