## Stolen Bass Guitar Returned to Musician Ivo Severijns After 13 Years
Rotterdam, Netherlands – Renowned bassist Ivo Severijns has recovered his stolen Fender Precision bass guitar after it disappeared thirteen years ago. The instrument was taken on January 12, 2012, during the Friends Van Amstel event at Ahoy in Rotterdam.
The recovery is the result of a persistent, years-long search by friend John van der Wolf. According to a post on instagram by Severijns, who previously played bass for Kane and Waylon, “Since then, friend John van der Wolf has continuously searched for that bass… Until last week, endless internet did not yield anything, but then he was suddenly offered for sale.”
The retrieval involved an undercover operation by police, a brief pursuit, and ultimately, the recovery of the instrument at the seller’s home. Police sent two officers to a meeting with the seller, who then attempted to move the sale to another location, suspecting something was amiss. Severijns ultimately confronted the seller at his residence, where the bass was located, leading to a car chase before the seller returned and was apprehended.
The seller claimed to have possessed the guitar for five years, stating he acquired it “for a sound set, for what it is indeed true,” according to the Rotterdam police department’s Facebook page.
Despite the recovery, the seller will not face charges related to the theft due to insufficient evidence for prosecution. He did, however, receive citations for traffic violations.
