Croydon Park Residents Urged to Shelter as Police Investigate Shooting
Police are investigating a shooting in Croydon Park, Sydney, after reports of gunfire emerged around 9:30 PM Tuesday. Residents were advised to remain indoors as officers responded to multiple reports of injuries and established a perimeter around Georges River Road.
The incident unfolded near the intersection of Croydon Avenue and seymour Street, prompting road closures and a important police presence, including officers in riot gear and a helicopter providing aerial support. Authorities confirmed a man was taken to Canterbury Hospital with a gunshot wound, and several others reported sustaining injuries.
NSW Police confirmed the arrest of a man in connection with the shooting,taken into custody at a building on Georges River Road,where firearms were also seized. NSW Ambulance paramedics treated four patients in total. One individual self-presented at Canterbury Hospital with a gunshot wound. Another was transported to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital from croydon Park, the extent of thier injuries currently unknown. Two further people attended Campsie police station with minor injuries.
Georges River Road remains closed between Croydon Avenue and Seymour Street, and Brighton Avenue is shut down between Georges River Road and Queensborough Road.Residents in the area received text message alerts as the situation developed. The investigation is ongoing, and police have not yet released details regarding the circumstances leading to the shooting or the identities of those involved.
