PHOENIX – An 86-year-old woman died Friday following a collision in north Phoenix, police said.
Jacqueline Louise Nelson was critically injured when her vehicle was struck by a truck near 18th Street and Greenway Parkway around 11:15 a.m. She was transported to a local hospital by Phoenix Fire Department personnel, where she later succumbed to her injuries. This incident underscores the vulnerability of elderly drivers and pedestrians in traffic, a growing concern as Arizona’s population ages. According to the Phoenix Police Department, nelson was attempting a left turn from eastbound Greenway Parkway onto northbound 18th Street when her vehicle entered the path of a westbound truck.
