Schlittler Dominates, Fuels Fire After Red Sox Online Harassment

Yankees Pitcher ⁤Cam‍ Schlittler Condemns⁤ Harassment of Family Following ALCS Victory Over Red Sox

BOSTON – New York Yankees pitcher Cam Schlittler revealed that ‍his family was subjected to online harassment from Red‍ Sox fans following his dominant performance in Game ‍3 of teh American ⁤League⁤ Championship Series on Thursday, a‌ game that eliminated⁢ Boston from postseason contention. Schlittler, who pitched 7 1/3 scoreless innings, acknowledged the animosity but expressed disappointment ⁣that the attacks ⁣extended to his family.

“Some of⁣ the bigger accounts they got over there,⁣ I was able to see, regrettably,” Schlittler said, adding he ⁤was alerted to the harassment before the ⁢game. “Don’t need to give them the attention they’re looking for, but just channel it‍ and​ made sure I took it in the right way.”

The harassment surfaced on social media‌ platform X (formerly Twitter), prompting Schlittler to advise his family not to engage with the⁢ negative comments. He sent a text message to family members 40 minutes before the game asking them to refrain from responding.

Schlittler, a Northeastern University ​product who resides in South Boston ​during the offseason, responded to the ​backlash with a series of posts on X, including a⁣ reference to the red Sox’s victory song, “Dirty Water,” writing, “Drinking dat dirty water.” He further clarified his connection to Boston,stating ⁢he ⁣attended school there for three years and lives in the city during⁤ the ⁣offseason.

“Went to school ⁢in bos for 3 years, ⁢I live in Southie during the ⁣off season,⁢ start preparing for the bruins szn homie​ ✌️,” he posted on October 3, 2025.

Despite the hostility, Schlittler acknowledged his friends, many of⁢ whom are Red Sox ⁣fans, where⁤ initially “bummed out” by Boston’s elimination.”But⁢ I‌ told them that’s exactly what’s going to happen,” he said. “They’ll get over it.Hockey season is coming up. basketball season is coming up. ‍I’m sure​ they’ve got othre​ things to‌ distract them.”

Yankees manager Aaron Boone was aware of the situation and expressed his support for Schlittler. “Cam’s a tough kid,” Boone said.”I know ‍(he) is going to handle any slings and arrows. Social media can be an ugly place ⁣sometimes… Cam is broad-shouldered,confident,clear-eyed,and I don’t think ⁣going to be affected by much.” Boone added that ​the fact the harassment came from Red Sox fans was “a little more disappointing.”

Schlittler‌ told Boone the night before his start that‍ he was prepared and had “no ⁣ties to Boston.” He declined to elaborate on the specifics of the‌ conversation, stating, “I can’t really repeat” what he said.
