Battlefield 2042’s First Season Launches as Free Update, Expanding Content Roadmap
Battlefield 2042 players are set to receive a substantial content injection with the launch of its first season, kicking off today with the release of “Breakthrough.” The season will unfold in three distinct parts, delivering new maps, game modes, weapons, and vehicles – all available as a free update to existing game owners.
This marks a pivotal moment for Battlefield 2042, which faced criticism at launch for a lack of content. The season pass aims to address these concerns and revitalize the player experience, offering a continuous stream of additions throughout the fall and into the winter. The roadmap promises a significant expansion of gameplay options and customization, designed to engage both veteran players and those returning to the game.
The initial phase, “Breakthrough,” introduces the Blackwell Fields map, the Strikepoint mode, and the Traverser Mark 2 vehicle. Players will also gain access to the SQR-300SC Carbine, GGH-22 sidearms, Mini Scout sniper rifle, Rail Cover, and LPVO equipment.
On november 18, “California Resistance” will launch, adding the Eastwood map, Sabotage mode, Battle Pickups, the DB-12 shotgun, M357 Trait Side Weapon, and Troy Angled-feste.
on December 9, “Winter Offensive” will arrive, featuring the time-limited ICE LOCK Empire State map and event, alongside the Ice Lock event itself and an ice climbing axe as a melee weapon.
Beyond these core additions, the season will also include ongoing improvements to community experiences and the game’s portal features.
