Gaza Strip – Following the unveiling of a new american peace plan, at least 17 Palestinians were reportedly killed by the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip, according to the official Palestinian news agency WAFA.The deaths occurred as reactions to the plan poured in from across the territory, largely characterized by skepticism and anger.
Abu Mazen Nassar, a Palestinian Authority employee displaced from Beit Lahya to a tent in Deir al-Balah, described the plan as “just a farce,” stating, “Trump and netanyahu lie to us.” Nassar, who lost his home due to fighting, sees “no guarantee” for an end to the ongoing conflict.
Other residents echoed this sentiment. Najwa Muslim, in Al-Zawaida, emphasized that any agreement “to back the Israeli hostages without end of war guarantees will not be accepted by Hamas.” Hamas has previously linked the release of hostages to a permanent ceasefire.
Ibrahim Joudeh, a computer engineer living in a tent in Al-Mawasi, called the plan “unrealistic,” asserting it was “developed with conditions that the United States and Israel know that Hamas will not accept.” He believes the announcements from Washington will only “increase suffering.”
Mohammed al-beltaji, from Gaza City, expressed a desire for an immediate cessation of hostilities. “We were waiting for the announcement of a ceasefire,” he saeid. “We want to stop the war. All we want is that bombings and deaths stop,” reflecting the devastation experienced in the territory after nearly two years of conflict.
