Basketball: mixed Results Mark Season Openers for Local Clubs
Villé, Epfig, and surrounding communities saw a range of outcomes as basketball teams launched their seasons this weekend, from decisive victories to challenging defeats.
Villé‘s senior men’s team faced a tough start, falling to opponents 66-94 despite a competitive first half where they trailed 34-44. Malers II also struggled, losing heavily to Eschau with a final score of 44-101. Though, Villé’s female pennant team secured a triumphant readiness win against ASA/weyersheim, 73-50, after a balanced first quarter (16-16) and a strong finish with a 19-1 run. The female II team also prevailed, winning a tight match in oshouse 64-62.

Epfig‘s women’s team achieved a notable away victory against Ebersheim, 32-25, overcoming a difficult start (13-7 first quarter) and a halftime deficit (20-14) through improved defense and counterattacks. The men’s team also secured a win against Ohnheim II, 82-73, fueled by strong offensive play in the first quarter (24-14) and a late surge led by Schaller, Lasserre, Leibel, and Chauvin.
