Jamie Joseph Named head Coach of All blacks XV
WELLINGTON, New Zealand – Jamie Joseph has been appointed Head Coach of the All Blacks XV for the 2025 and 2026 seasons, New Zealand Rugby (NZR) announced today. Joseph takes the reins from Clayton McMillan, who coached the team in 2024.
The coaching team of Jamie Mackintosh,David Hill,and Cory Jane will remain in place under Joseph’s leadership as the All Blacks XV prepare for a three-match tour of England this November. The schedule includes:
* November 2: All blacks XV v Barbarians, Gtech Community Stadium, Brentford
* November 9: All Blacks XV v England A, The Recreational Ground, Bath
* November 16: Details to be confirmed.
Joseph brings a wealth of experience to the role, having earned 20 Test caps as a loose forward for the All Blacks between 1992 and 1995. He also represented the Māori All Blacks and played internationally for Japan before retiring in 2001.
His coaching career includes a distinguished seven-year tenure with the Highlanders, culminating in a Super Rugby title in 2015. He also coached Japan for 51 tests (2016-2023) and led the Māori All Blacks to five wins in six matches between 2010 and 2012. He recently returned to New Zealand as Highlanders Director of Rugby in 2024 and will resume the Head Coach position for the 2025 Super Rugby Pacific season.

NZR Head of Professional Rugby & Performance Chris Lendrum highlighted Joseph’s extensive background. “Jamie has coached and played at every level of the game and has a deep understanding, both as a player and coach, of what it takes to prepare players for international rugby and to win on the global stage. He’s a proven leader who knows how to get the best out of his players and build a strong team identity and culture. The All Blacks XV is a vital part of the men’s pathway,and we certainly know Jamie will make his mark on the team and the program.”

The All Blacks XV squad will be announced on October 14th and will assemble on October 24th before departing for England. Players involved in the Bunnings Warehouse NPC final will join the team following the conclusion of that competition.
