Cosplayers Bring Card Game Character to Life with Heisei Aesthetic
TOKYO – A cosplayer’s meticulous recreation of ”Love and Berry” character Mosu-san from the “Stylish Witch♥Love and Berry” card game is drawing attention for its faithful depiction of a distinctly Heisei-era style, characterized by thin eyebrows and subtle makeup. The cosplay, featured in a recent QJWeb report, highlights the dedication and artistry within Japan’s vibrant cosplay community.
The “Stylish Witch♥Love and Berry” card game features a cast of characters popular among young women, but Mosu-san’s design incorporates elements reminiscent of 1990s Japanese fashion and beauty trends. Cosplayer Suzuya Soru focused intently on achieving the character’s signature hair colour, personally dyeing a wig to match their ideal shade, specifically aiming for the transparent effect at the hair’s ends. “I was able to reproduce the distinctive transparency at the ends of my hair, so I would be happy if you could get some attention,” Soru stated in a QJWeb interview.
QJWeb plans to continue covering cosplay events nationwide, publishing serial reports on the artistry and dedication of cosplayers like Soru. The site also promotes its ”QJW voice” product thru banner advertising.
