Kigali, Rwanda – The 2025 UCI Road World Championships are underway in Rwanda, culminating this weekend with the elite women’s and men’s road races.Live updates will be provided throughout both events.
The women’s race on Saturday presents a challenging 164.6-kilometer course with 3,350 vertical meters, completed over eleven laps, including a climb up Mont Kigali and the cobblestone stretch of Mur du Kigali (summit at 1771 meters). The field seeks a successor to Lotte Kopecky, the 2023 and 2024 world champion, who did not start due to a recent injury sustained at the tour de L’Ardèche. On Sunday,the elite men will tackle a demanding 267.5-kilometer course with 5,475 vertical meters. This surpasses the elevation gain of the 2024 Zurich World Championships (4,470 meters over 273.9 kilometers) and the challenging 2018 Innsbruck course (4,670 meters over 258 kilometers).
