DN Reports: Hand grenade Explosion in Malmö,Controlled Detonation Underway
Malmö,Sweden – September 26,2025,22:31 CET – an explosion occurred Friday night at the entrance to a multi-family building in the Rosengård district of Malmö.Police have determined the blast was likely caused by a hand grenade.
“We have found residues after a hand grenade and there are splits in doors and walls so we have made the assessment that it is probably a hand grenade,” stated Leif Fransson, press spokesperson for the South Region Police.
Fortunately, no injuries have been reported. Fransson added, ”There where a lot of people moving so it could have gone very badly.”
Residents of the affected stairwell have been temporarily relocated, and the area remains cordoned off.
The national bomb protection unit arrived on scene shortly after 9:30 PM and discovered remnants of an exploded grenade, as well as a second, live device. Police stated the live grenade will be rendered safe at the location, and the perimeter has been expanded.
as of 10:00 PM, bomb disposal experts are preparing for a controlled detonation, expected to take between 30 and 60 minutes.
No arrests have been made at this time. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
