SCHENECTADY, N.Y.- union College women’s hockey will kick off it’s 2025-26 season with a road contest against Franklin pierce University on October 31, 2025. The announcement comes as the Garnet Chargers look to build on a historic 2024-25 season under second-year head coach Tony Maci.
Last season, Maci and his staff led Union to a program-record 13 wins and the team’s first-ever postseason victory. The Garnet Chargers finished with a 13-23-1 overall record and an ECAC Hockey-best eight conference wins. A highlight of the season was a 3-2 upset victory over then-No. 9 Cornell University in november. Union faced nationally ranked opponents in 19 games,with eight losses decided by a single goal,and narrowly missed upsetting No. 3 Cornell in the ECAC Hockey quarterfinal series.
The team also established new program records for goals scored and fewest goals allowed in its Division I era.First-year forward Karianne Engelbert earned All-Rookie Team honors, marking the program’s first ECAC postseason recognition since 2008.
Assisting Maci are Shawn Skelly, Tina Ciraulo, and Courtney Hall.
Union was predicted to finish ninth in the 12-team ECAC Hockey Preseason Poll, receiving 56 points.
