Local Writer Offers Safe Space for Sharing Work, Upcoming Workshops
TUCSON, AZ – Pima County Library is offering a unique opportunity for aspiring and established writers to recieve feedback and encouragement from published author Sarah T. Dubb through free consultations and workshops, addressing the frequently enough-intimidating act of sharing personal writng.
Dubb, the library’s current writer-in-residence, understands the vulnerability inherent in exposing one’s work. “It can be very scary,” she acknowledged, noting the bravery of those who participate in her sessions. The consultations provide a supportive environment where writers of all levels and genres can discuss their work, knowing Dubb herself is familiar with extensive revision – she rewrote her novel “Birding with Benefits” five times. These sessions aim to foster a welcoming space built on trust and acknowledge the courage it takes to share deeply personal writing.
Dubb’s consultations are available Thursdays from 10 a.m. to noon and 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. through November 13 (excluding October 9).Reservations are 30 minutes long and open one week in advance, requiring prompt registration due to high demand. Along with consultations, Dubb will host two workshops: “Preserving Joy through Your Writing Journey” on October 18 at Woods Memorial Library, and “writing Romance: Romance Beats, Pacing and Conflict” on November 8 at Quincie Douglas Library. Both workshops require registration.
Dubb’s next novel, “Honey Bee Mine,” a romance set in upstate New York, will be released in December. More information and registration details for all events can be found at library.pima.gov/writer.
