Idaho Falls Schools Cancel Classes Due to Gun Threats

Idaho Falls Schools Closed Thursday After Reported ⁢Gun Threats

IDAHO FALLS⁣ – Classes are canceled Thursday at Skyline High School, Eagle ⁣Rock Middle School, and Ethel Boyes Elementary after authorities investigated potential gun threats. The Idaho Falls School District 91 made the decision as a ⁣precaution following two separate ‌incidents reported Wednesday.

One incident involved⁣ a student making a comment regarding‍ a potential gun threat. School⁢ officials immediately alerted ⁢the school⁤ resource officer,and an examination determined the threat was not credible.⁤ Superintendent Karla⁣ LaOrange stated ​the student will face disciplinary action consistent with district policy. Separately, a rumor ⁣circulated during a school dance about a possible ⁢armed individual in a vehicle near‌ the school, prompting an investigation by ⁣the Idaho Falls Police Department.

“Idaho Falls School District 91 takes these matters seriously.as a district, we are committed to keeping students⁣ and staff safe,”‌ LaOrange said in a statement.⁣ “I am grateful for the fast response by Skyline High ​School and the‌ Idaho‌ Falls Police Department,‍ and I appreciate the cooperation of our families as we work together to ​keep our schools safe.”
