Video shows police wrestling alligator in Central Florida backyard

The⁣ Lake ‍County sheriff’s Office responded too a call over the weekend about an alligator⁤ lounging outside a⁢ Central Florida home that deputies eventually wrangled and ⁤captured.

The call,the office says,came from a⁣ woman who said the alligator was on ⁤her front porch in clermont. In a video shared ⁤by the sheriff’s office, two deputies are seen following the large animal from the ‍front porch to the ‍home’s backyard, ⁢which the gator got to by ramming open a fence attached to the home.

The officers are seen securing the alligator with rope before ⁣one wrestles ⁤the animal down and mounts it. ⁣The other tapes the gator’s ​mouth shut.

The video ⁣appears to contain footage from both‌ an‍ officer’s body cam and a drone.

Along ⁣with the video, the ‍sheriff’s​ office says the deputies worked to relocate the ​alligator.

“Not our first call‌ like this‌ … but it’s always a Florida classic!” the message continues.

The FWC says people concerned ​about an⁤ alligator ‌can call their Nuisance Alligator Hotline⁢ at 866-FWC-Gator (866-392-4286). An alligator is generally considered a⁤ nuisance if it⁢ is indeed at least 4‍ feet⁣ in length; if it is​ believed to pose a threat to people, pets ⁣or property; or if it is found somewhere it should not be, such as a swimming pool, home, garage,⁣ etc.

Florida Deputies Wrestle Alligator From Porch in Dramatic Rescue

Clermont, FL – Lake County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a startling scene over the weekend: a large⁢ alligator found lounging on a Central florida resident’s front porch.The incident,captured on​ bodycam and drone footage,culminated⁢ in a skillful – and daring – capture and relocation of the reptile.

according to‌ the lake County Sheriff’s Office, the call came from a Clermont homeowner who discovered the​ alligator⁣ on their property. ‌The gator didn’t stop at the porch, though, reportedly ramming open a⁤ fence to gain ​access to the backyard.

Footage released by the Sheriff’s Office shows two deputies carefully approaching the alligator, eventually‌ securing‌ it with rope. One deputy then bravely wrestled the animal to the ground and taped its mouth shut, preparing it for safe removal.

“Not our ‍first call like this … but it’s always ⁢a florida classic!” the⁢ Sheriff’s Office stated in ​a social media​ post⁢ accompanying⁢ the video.

This incident highlights the ‌ongoing need for awareness regarding alligators in florida. ‌The Florida ‍Fish and wildlife Conservation Commission ‍(FWC) considers an ‌alligator a nuisance if it’s at least ⁣4 feet long, poses a​ threat to people or property, or is ‌found in an​ unusual location – like a swimming pool or inside a home.
