The Genesee gymnastics team demonstrated strong performance Saturday, securing third place at a recent meet with a team score of 116.825.
The result positions Genesee as a competitive force in the early season, showcasing the team’s potential as they continue to build momentum. Fairport led the competition with 133.075 points, followed by Rush-Henrietta at 127.5. Corning finished fourth (114.875) and Mercy placed fifth (64.2).
Mila Russo led the Genesee gymnasts, finishing seventh in the all-around competition with a score of 31.25. She also achieved sixth place on floor exercise (8.8) and tenth on balance beam (7.9). Emma Cooper followed closely, placing ninth all-around (30.7) and earning sixth on vault (8.1) and tenth on floor exercise (8.5).
Sophia Matthews secured 13th in the all-around (26.15), highlighted by a 16th-place finish on vault (7.6). Taryn Wright scored 7.4 on vault for 20th place, and Chloe Garner took 21st on vault with a 7.3.
Edison Betances led Genesee on uneven bars with a score of 6.3, earning 14th place, while Carsyn Good scored 5.775 for 18th. Brooklynn Griffis competed on uneven bars (5.025, 25th) and balance beam (6.0, 26th).
Fairport’s Maryclaire Wirth claimed the all-around title with a score of 34.425.
Genesee’s next competition is scheduled for Friday, September 26, at MCA Gymnastics, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
