Stepfather Accused of Abuse Transferred to Criminal Center, Faces Judicial Detention
San Pedro sula, Honduras – Elvis Bautista, the stepfather accused of sexually assaulting his 13-year-old stepdaughter, has been transferred to the Integrated Criminal Justice center of San Pedro Sula following an initial hearing. The case gained prominence after the disappearance of his stepson, elvis Eliú Bautista, who was swept away by currents in the La Primavera ravine on September 19th.
Prosecutors requested the precautionary measure of judicial detention, citing the severity of the alleged crime and adherence to national and international child protection norms. While the defense argued for the principle of innocence,an Extraordinary Criminal Letters Judge ultimately ordered Bautista’s detention. The alleged abuse was initially reported during the search for Elvis Eliú, with the victim stating the assaults occurred in 2022.
An initial audience was scheduled for September 26th at 10:00 a.m. to determine if the case will proceed to the next judicial stage. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Elvis Eliú’s disappearance; initial reports identifying remains found in the ravine as belonging to a child were later confirmed to be those of an animal.
