Jeremstar Released After Arrest at Bullfight, Faces Court Summons
Nîmes, France – Influencer Jeremstar was released Sunday afternoon after spending two nights in police custody following a protest at a bullfight in Nîmes (Gard). He was arrested friday evening for disrupting the event by displaying a white fabric bearing the message “FXCK La Run.” The Nîmes prosecutor’s office confirmed his release to AFP.
Despite his release, Jeremstar’s legal issues are not resolved. He and two other protesters have received summonses from judicial police and a direct convocation to appear before the court in the coming weeks to answer for their actions. The charge is “Intrusion in a sports enclosure disturbing the progress of the competition.”
The protest quickly gained traction on social media, drawing praise from animal rights organizations like PETA and the Animal League, and also comedian Rémi Gaillard. Jeremstar himself reaffirmed his commitment to the cause, stating, “As trying as the conditions of police custody are, they are nothing compared to what the bulls undergo. And if I had to spend two nights in a cell to fight for them,I did it gladly.”
Jeremstar, whose real name is Jérémy Gisclon, used his Instagram account while in custody to condemn bullfighting as “animal torture,” calling for its abolition. “It is not art but animal torture. This despicable tradition must be abolished. I do not understand how this shameful show is still possible in 2025,” he wrote. Bullfights remain a tradition in the French regions of New Aquitaine, Paca, and Occitanie.
