Man Found Dead After Search Near Våler
Våler, Norway – A man in his 70s was found dead late Friday night after a multi-day search operation near Våler, police confirmed. The search began Friday afternoon after family members reported him missing around 4:00 PM.
The man was last seen Tuesday near his residence, prompting a large-scale exploration effort involving approximately 60 volunteers, police dogs, a drone, and the police helicopter.Authorities reported continuing the search despite challenging conditions, including darkness and rain.
“We are now making a solid attempt to find him,” operations manager Pål Gjestvang said at 6:09 PM Friday, as the search was underway.
According to operations manager Per Solberg,the man had been on a berry-picking trip when he fell. “he’s been out for a walk. There is no suspected criminally related to the death. The man has fallen on a trip,” Solberg stated after 1:00 AM Saturday.
Police have notified the man’s closest relatives.He was well known in the area, according to Solberg.
