Herd Tennis Set to Open the Fall

Herd Tennis Set to Open ⁢Fall Season at Schedule Pam ⁢Whitehead Invitational

HUNTINGTON, W.Va.‍ – Marshall University women’s tennis will kick off its fall schedule this weekend at the Schedule Pam Whitehead Invitational in Cary, North Carolina, beginning Friday,​ September 19. The tournament marks the first competitive action for a roster featuring ‌both seasoned veterans and promising newcomers.

The invitational provides an early opportunity for the Herd to gauge its⁣ progress and build momentum heading into the remainder of the ⁢fall season. Senior⁣ Johanna Strom will led the team, ‌competing in the singles draw after finishing last season with a strong 14-6 record, including victories in her final four matches.Alongside Strom, Marshall welcomes three first-year players – Sarah Copley, Paula Berzina, and Thalia Smith – who will contribute⁣ to both the singles and doubles lineups.

The team also ‍includes meredith Riley and Katy Limanen, who will compete alongside thier teammates. The invitational schedule features matchups against Cincinnati, ⁢Louisville, and​ Miami (OH). competition begins Friday at noon with doubles play, followed by singles matches beginning around 3:00 PM. ⁢Saturday’s​ schedule‍ resumes at 10:00 AM⁤ with doubles, and continues with singles play throughout the afternoon.
