“The Summer I turned Pretty” Star Gavin Casalegno on jeremiah’s Heartbreak and Potential Future
CULVER CITY,CA – July 29,2024 – Gavin Casalegno, who portrays Jeremiah Fisher in Prime Video’s The Summer I Turned Pretty, reflects on the emotional fallout of the season three finale and the character’s path forward in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter. The season culminated in a dramatic wedding day reveal, with Belly choosing Conrad, leaving Jeremiah heartbroken at the altar.
The third season’s central conflict hinged on Belly’s (Hannah Conda) wavering affections between the Fisher brothers. Casalegno discussed the pivotal role of a Christmas reunion in reigniting Belly’s feelings for Conrad, suggesting that without that event, jeremiah and belly’s engagement might have endured. “Christmas was when she started loving him again,” Casalegno explained. “That was a moment where boundaries weren’t set for either of them and they were able to emotionally connect in a way they hadn’t for four years as Belly was always with Jeremiah. I think that separation between them, where she essentially had a getaway with Conrad, was pivotal to her feelings and things being stirred up again, where she’s like, ‘I love him’ and reawakened those feelings. But I without that and with a lot of healthy boundaries, I feel like we probably would have seen a wedding go through.”
Despite the devastating outcome, the finale also hinted at a potential new connection for Jeremiah with Denise (renata Vaca). Casalegno expressed hope for Jeremiah’s happiness, acknowledging the timing challenges given Denise’s impending move to California with Stephen and taylor. “I genuinely just want him to be happy,” he said. “Denise has gotten to see different sides of Jeremiah and who he is and I hope for the best for them.” He questioned the appropriate timeframe for a new relationship following the wedding day heartbreak, suggesting, “Probably not within a year, I would imagine.”
The Summer I Turned Pretty is currently streaming on Prime Video.
