Saarbrücken City Library Hosts week of Free Workshops, Events
SAARBRÜCKEN, Germany – The Saarbrücken City Library is set to host a diverse range of free events throughout the coming week, from workshops on personal safety for young people to a resuscitation course and a sustainable clothing exchange. The library, in collaboration with city departments and regional organizations, aims to provide valuable resources and community engagement opportunities for residents of all ages.
On Monday,September 22nd,from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., a workshop geared towards eleven-year-olds will be held at the Kultur- und Reading meeting St. Arnual, focusing on recognizing and responding to dangers like harassment or provocation. Advance registration is required via email at kultur-und-lesetreff.sanktarnual@saarbruecken.de.
Tuesday,September 23rd,will see a free resuscitation course offered from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., in partnership with the Saarbrücken Clinic and the VHS Regional Association Saarbrücken, coinciding with revival week. Registration is available through the VHS regional association Saarbrücken website.
The library is also participating in the intercultural week, showcasing a selection of books, films, and documentaries on diversity, tolerance, and cosmopolitanism on the third floor until Saturday, September 27th. An english-language open house tour will be offered on Thursday, September 25th, at 2 p.m., meeting on the ground floor – no registration needed.
Also on Thursday, September 25th, at 6 p.m., a workshop titled “Ki-Abafterwork: digital helpers for everyday office life” will explore how artificial intelligence can assist with daily work tasks. This event, in cooperation with the department of Economy, Social Affairs and Digitization, will be held in the library’s reading café and requires no registration.
Rounding out the week, a ”Swap and Style” clothing exchange will take place on Saturday, september 27th, from 10 a.m.to 2 p.m. Participants can exchange up to seven well-preserved adult clothing items using a token system.
