Skip Marley Celebrates Legacy ‍and Resilience in New ⁢Music Video, “In Our Sight”

KINGSTON, JAMAICA – September 19, 2024 – Skip ⁤Marley has released the official music⁢ video for his latest single, “In⁣ Our Sight,” filmed on location in Jamaica. The track, produced by Supa Dups, ⁢is a⁤ powerful anthem of unity and⁣ perseverance, carrying forward the Marley family’s reggae ⁤tradition while forging a connection between generations.

“In Our Sight” draws a direct line to reggae’s history,⁢ sampling Al Green’s “Love and ⁣Happiness” - a song famously⁤ reinterpreted by‌ Dennis Brown in his iconic “Westbound Train”⁣ riddim. ‍This sonic bridge underscores Marley’s commitment to honoring the foundations⁤ of‍ the genre as he expands its reach. The song’s ⁢message of strength and hope resonates deeply with Marley’s artistic vision.

“What [do] I want people⁤ to take from this video? Strength,” marley stated in a press release. “I want you to feel not ⁣defeated. I want you to feel like all things [are] possible through the powers of the Most High.”

Def Jam⁤ Recordings’ Kardinal ‍Offishall highlighted the significance of the musical lineage, noting, “Skip Marley singing over a foundation D. ‌Brown sample makes it every true reggae ‌lover’s dream,⁣ bringing the generations ⁤together in a‌ 2025 style.”

The release of ⁣”In Our Sight” follows a ‍series of intentional releases from Marley this year, including the ⁤”Close (Remix)”‌ featuring Masicka and DING DONG in February. He previously released the full-length project Higher Place in 2020, which included the hit single “Slow Down” with⁢ H.E.R., as well as collaborations with Rick Ross, Ari Lennox, ⁢Bob Marley, and Damian Marley. The album was expanded on its first anniversary with remixes featuring Davido and Oxlade, and a dub version of “Make Me feel.”
