WINDSOR, U.K. – Prince William held a private meeting with former President Donald Trump at windsor Castle on Wednesday, as Trump continues his visit to the United kingdom. the meeting occurred ahead of a state banquet hosted by King charles III,marking a significant moment during Trump’s trip and adding a layer of diplomatic engagement to the event.
The encounter between the Prince of Wales and the former U.S. President comes as Trump attends the opulent state banquet, a guest list of over 160 including U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Trump’s daughter Tiffany Trump and her husband Michael Boulos. While details of the private discussion have not been released, the meeting underscores the ongoing relationship between the British Royal Family and prominent figures on the global stage.
The state visit has not been without its critics. Ed Davey, leader of the U.K.’s Liberal Democrat party, announced he would boycott the state banquet to protest the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. ”There is no honor like an invitation from the King, and not to accept his invitation goes against all of our instincts,” Davey said, per the BBC. “But I fear we could have a situation where donald Trump comes to our country, is honoured with a lavish dinner at one of our finest palaces, yet no one reminds him that he has the power to stop the horrifying starvation and death in Gaza and get the hostages released.” Davey further stated that boycotting the banquet was “the one way I can send a message to Donald Trump and Keir Starmer that they can’t close their eyes and wish this away.”
