NORTH CODORUS,Pa. – A shooting involving police in North Codorus Township, Pennsylvania, left ⁢at least two peopel seriously injured Wednesday, prompting ‌a rapid ‍response from state officials including Gov. Josh Shapiro.

The incident is under inquiry in the‍ rural area ⁣approximately 115 miles west of Philadelphia and near the Maryland border. York Hospital confirmed it is treating ‌two individuals in serious condition related to the police incident ⁣in⁢ northern York County,and has ‌implemented enhanced security protocols.

Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis appealed for support via social​ media, stating, “Please send prayers to⁣ the officers and those involved in the‌ shooting in York County.” Pennsylvania Attorney ⁢General Dave Sunday is ‍also‌ at the ​scene,urging residents‌ to “follow the instructions of local law enforcement” ‌and expressing prayers for those affected.

As ⁣a precaution,a local school district initiated a shelter-in-place ⁤order,later lifted‍ in the afternoon,while authorities closed area roads. The district stated⁣ the order was issued as authorities “advised us to hold students and staff⁣ in our buildings…while several area roads are closed.”

The Consulate of Mexico ​in​ Philadelphia issued a precautionary alert to Mexican residents in the vicinity, monitoring the situation.

Details regarding those ⁣involved in the shooting remain unreleased. The scene, located in an agricultural area, was secured by ⁣approximately 30 police vehicles ⁤blocking access to roads near ‍farmland, including​ a barn, goat farm, and fields of soybeans and corn.

York County officials stated that Pennsylvania State Police, Northern Regional Police, and ​numerous emergency responders⁢ are on site, and the county commissioners are closely monitoring the situation.
