PlayStation 5 Slim Digital model to Launch with Reduced Storage, Same Price
Sony is preparing to release a new PlayStation 5 Slim Digital Edition featuring reduced storage capacity, despite maintaining the current retail price. The upcoming model, utilizing a new “chassis E” design, will offer 825 GB of storage – a decrease from the 1 TB found in the previously available chassis D version.
Despite the 175 GB reduction in storage, retailers are listing the new PlayStation 5 Slim Digital Edition at the same price point of €499.99 as the 1 TB model. The reasons behind this storage reduction and price consistency remain unclear, though speculation suggests Sony may be attempting to mitigate further price increases for the console in Europe, where previous increases have already raised the price from an original €399.90 to the current €499.90.
It is currently unknown if other changes have been implemented alongside the storage reduction and chassis update. Further evaluation from users who acquire the new model will be necessary to determine the full extent of the modifications.
