HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Hawaii Pacific University (HPU) will become the first university in Hawaii to offer a three-year undergraduate degree, beginning with a Bachelor of Science in Global Business (BSGB) program.
The 90-credit program is designed for accelerated, flexible, and future-focused learning, completed across twelve eight-week terms. Applications are now open, with the inaugural cohort of Global Business Scholars slated to begin studies in fall 2026.
The BSGB program integrates interdisciplinary academics with practical experience. Students will initially engage with the Kakaʻako business community, benefiting from mentorship and a collaborative student environment. the curriculum includes two integrated internships, with the option to complete the second during spring break.
HPU encourages students to pursue study abroad or work opportunities during summers in locations such as Japan, Singapore, China, Europe, or the continental U.S., supporting on-time graduation. Coursework will cover topics including “Technology and the Global Enterprise,” ”Market Landscape & Positioning,” “Corporate Finance & Investment Strategies,” “Purpose Driven innovation and Entrepreneurship,” and “The Art of Selling.”
“This is not just a faster path to graduation. it’s an intentional, impactful, and global way to learn,” said Amy Nguyen-Chyung, Ph.D., Dean of the college of Business. “We expect three-year degrees like this to become more common in the years ahead, and HPU is pioneering the chance right here in Hawaii.”
