Darfur Governor Praises Al-Fasher residents’ Resistance as RSF Deputy Commander Spotted Near City
Al-Fasher, Sudan – Darfur Regional Governor Mona Arko Minawi lauded the resilience of Al-fasher residents facing ongoing attacks and a siege by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). Her comments followed reports of RSF Deputy Commander Abdul Rahim Daklo appearing near the city, an event Minawi characterized as a “historic lesson” for those threatening civilians.
Minawi stated that the courage of Al-Fasher’s defenders – both fighters and civilians – “trembled their hearts before their weapons,” and pledged continued fighting untill the siege is lifted and complete victory achieved.
The governor’s statements came after circulating footage showed Daklo briefly exiting his vehicle to address soldiers in an area believed to be near Al-Fasher, urging them forward. Sources indicate Daklo remains outside the city, moving between field control points without directly entering engagement zones.
Meanwhile, the Al-Fasher resistance committees coordination reported a second consecutive day of intense clashes, artillery shelling, and airstrikes, leading to a complete collapse of basic services and disruption of essential supplies. Despite the dire conditions, the coordination affirmed the unwavering steadfastness of the city’s population.
Local sources also reported RSF elements infiltrating residential neighborhoods in northern Al-Fasher, allegedly committing severe violations against civilians, including killings inside homes and mysterious arrests in the Al-Shorfa neighborhood.
Al-Fasher remains the last major stronghold of the sudanese Armed Forces in the Darfur region, and the escalating conflict raises concerns of a humanitarian catastrophe, compounded by a lack of effective international intervention to halt abuses and break the siege.
