This week brings a flurry of network announcements from airlines across the globe, detailing winter schedules, capacity increases, and brand new routes. Here’s a breakdown of the latest developments:
Wizz Air Expands Vilnius Network
Wizz Air is bolstering its presence at Vilnius International Airport with the addition of several new routes. Services too Nice, France, and Vilnius-Turku, Finland, both launch on December 12th, operating three times weekly. Looking ahead to 2026, Vilnius-Tirana, Albania (3X-weekly) and Palanga-Oslo, Norway (3X-weekly) are scheduled to begin on March 31st, followed by vilnius-Podgorica, Montenegro (2X-weekly) on June 7th. “The deployment of a third aircraft at our Vilnius base brings even more travel opportunities for Lithuanian passengers and underlines our long-term commitment to this market,” stated Andras Szabo, Wizz Air’s commercial manager for Central Eastern Europe and the Middle East.
EVA Air Increases Taipei Capacity
Responding to growing passenger demand, EVA Air will be increasing frequencies on its Taipei routes to Milan and Brisbane. Starting January 16, 2026, the Taipei-Milan Malpensa route will move to a daily service, up from four flights per week, utilizing Boeing 787 aircraft. Additional flights will operate on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.Between December 2nd and February 24th, EVA Air will also add a Tuesday frequency to its Taipei-Brisbane service, bringing the route to 4X-weekly, also operated with 787s.
SAS Connects Scandinavia & South Korea
scandinavian Airlines (SAS) inaugurated its first nonstop service between Scandinavia and South Korea on September 12th,with the launch of the Copenhagen-Seoul route. The airline will operate the route four times per week this fall, reducing to three times weekly in winter, before increasing to up to 6X-weekly flights next summer – a 50% capacity increase. Airbus A350 aircraft will be used for the service, connecting to the hub of SkyTeam alliance partner Korean Airlines in Seoul.
KLM expands Winter Schedule
KLM will operate an expanded winter schedule from October 26th to March 28, 2026, serving 161 destinations – 92 in Europe and 69 intercontinental. Two new destinations are being added: weekly flights to Kittilä, Finland, starting in late November, and a return to Barbados, combined with Georgetown, Guyana, operating three times per week. Routes launched this summer, including Exeter, Ljubljana and Hyderabad, will continue through the winter. Nonstop flights to San Diego are also planned to begin in late February.KLM is also increasing frequencies to New Delhi, Panama City, Bangkok, Cape Town and Curaçao. The airline anticipates the delivery of three new Airbus A321neos and its final Boeing 787-10 this winter.
Binter Canarias Boosts Tenerife Capacity
Binter Canarias is substantially increasing capacity from Tenerife for the 2025-26 winter season, adding 412,000 seats – a 33% year-on-year increase. A new 2X-weekly Tenerife Norte-Badajoz route will launch on December 1st, operated by Embraer 195-E2 aircraft. Frequencies will also increase on services to Vigo, Valencia and Asturias. Seasonal routes to Valladolid, San Sebastian, Granada, pamplona and Murcia will be extended into the winter schedule. Additionally, Binter plans to launch 5X-weekly services from both Gran Canaria and Tenerife to Seville, also starting December 1st.
AirAsia Launches Pontianak Routes
AirAsia has launched two new direct routes to Pontianak, Indonesia, connecting the West Kalimantan capital with Kuala Lumpur and Kuching. This marks the first international flights to operate at Supadio Airport since it regained international status in June 2025. The Pontianak-Kuala Lumpur route will operate daily,while Pontianak-Kuching will be 4X-weekly. “Following the success of our recent route launches in Palembang and beyond, Indonesia remains one of our most crucial markets,” said AirAsia Malaysia CEO Fareh Mazputra. “These routes not only provide greater convenience for our guests but also open more opportunities for tourism and business between Malaysia and Indonesia.”
