Surf Films Understands 5 and Ride the Line to Tour the US West Coast
CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA, CA – Surf enthusiasts on the West Coast will have the opportunity to view two highly anticipated films this month as Understands 5, produced by Gets, and Ride the Line, from Blak bear Surf Club, embark on a tour of California surf shops and venues. The tour kicks off September 15th following a accomplished run of screenings from New York to Florida.
The collaboration between Gets creator and director Logan Dulien and Blak Bear Surf Club marks a departure for Dulien, who typically maintains neutrality with brand partnerships. “I usually don’t partner up with surf brands, I’ve always kept Gets neutral, but Blak Bear Surf Club is different and I love what they’re doing, what they stand for, not to mention how sick their team and traction pads are,” dulien posted prior to the tour launch. He further praised Blak Bear’s independent spirit, stating, “It’s refreshing to see a brand owned and run by a surfer like (Teva Dexter). A brand that has zero corporate ties. They’re fucking winging it and making shit happen. It made perfect sense to partner up with them.”
Understands 5 features approximately 50 surfers, while Ride the Line showcases talent including Billy Kemper, Al cleland Jr, and Balaram Stack.
The West Coast tour schedule includes:
* September 15: Carmel Surf Shop, Carmel-by-the-Sea
* September 16: Proof Lab Surf Shop, Marin County
* September 17: Rio Theatre, Santa cruz
* september 18: Cruise Control Contemporary studio, Cambria
* September 20: Solento Surf Film Festival, Encinitas
A preview clip featuring Mason Ho is available, offering a glimpse of the surfing showcased in understands 5. Full footage will be available at the screenings.
Additional screening dates will be announced on the Instagram pages for blak Bear Surf Club (@blakbearsurfclub) and Gets (@snaptfive).
