New Russian Robots Capable of Carrying Nuclear Weapons Deployed in Kaliningrad
Kudrjavtevo, Russia – Images geolocalized by the self-reliant military analysis group Cyberboroshno reveal the deployment of 9M723 robots near Kudrjavtevo, Kaliningrad Oblast, Russia. The robots, possessing a range of 500 kilometers, are capable of being equipped with nuclear weapons, according to news reports.
The deployment coincides with the ongoing joint Russian-Belarusian military exercise, Zapad-25, which began last Friday and is scheduled to conclude Tuesday. Defense Express reports the systems were likely positioned as part of this exercise. The 500-kilometer range of the robots places areas of the Baltic states, Poland, the Danish island of Bornholm, and parts of sweden within potential reach, including the Swedish island of Gotland and mainland cities like Karlskrona and Växjö.
Joakim Paasikivi, former Lieutenant Colonel and senior geopolitical advisor at mannheimer swartling, stated, “The only thing that is surprising about them is that people are surprising.” He characterized the deployment as consistent with Russian exercises and signaling directed at NATO, adding, “They think that we are the threat, so that they do this is completely consistent.”
russia had previously announced its intention to include a nuclear weapon component in the Zapad exercise. Paasikivi clarified that the robots are not currently equipped with live warheads, as the deployment is for exercise purposes. He advised against excessive alarm, stating, “The question is how stressed we should be. The answer is probably that we should not be as stressed as the Russians want.”
