Title: Weekend Weather: Flights Cancelled Due to Gales & Snow

Weekend weather: Gales halt flights across the country.Flights across much of New Zealand were cancelled today due to severe weather conditions.

In Dunedin,at least eight flights – four inbound and four outbound – were halted. napier also experienced disruptions, with three flights cancelled, two inbound and one outbound.air New Zealand confirmed the flight changes, stating customers have been rebooked on the next available service.

Gale west to southwest winds affecting much of the country are expected to ease on Sunday, though several strong wind watches remain in effect. These watches cover Coromandel, Bay of Plenty west of Edgecumbe, Hawke’s Bay south of Wairoa, the Tararua District, Tasman District west of Motueka, and the Chatham Islands.Wind warnings have been lifted for Dunedin, Clutha, Southland about and south of Gore, and Stewart Island. A thunderstorm warning previously in place for the Buller and Gray regions has also been lifted.

While auckland is not under a weather warning, Pro-Palestine protesters cancelled a planned march across the Auckland Harbour Bridge on Saturday due to forecasted high winds. MetService predicted gusts of up to 70kmph across the bridge at the time of the planned event.

Snowfall on high roads in the South Island continues to pose challenges for motorists. Road snowfall warnings are currently in place for Milford Rd (SH94) and Crown Range Rd,though earlier warnings for the Arthurs,haast,lewis and Lindis Passes have been lifted.
