Czech Republic Sees Significant Rise in Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Sales

Data from the Union of Car Importers reveals a strong consumer shift towards hybrid and electric vehicles in the Czech Republic, with considerable growth recorded in the first eight months of the year.
Strong Growth in Overall Passenger Car Sales
Between January and the end of August, total new passenger car sales in the Czech Republic increased by 4.75 percent, reaching 161,067 vehicles. This growth is substantially bolstered by the rising popularity of hybrid technologies.
Hybrid Sales Soar, Led by Toyota
New hybrid car sales jumped by 26 percent, totaling 42,965 units sold. Plug-in hybrid vehicles experienced even more dramatic growth, with a 73 percent increase, reaching 6,866 units. Electric car registrations also rose sharply, climbing 53 percent to 8,820 vehicles.
It’s vital to note that these figures include Mild-hybrids, which offer limited all-electric range (typically under tens of meters).
The sale of hybrid cars maintains a quarter growth that highly exceeds the pace of the whole market. Plug-in hybrid cars are growing even more than last year.

Top Performing Brands
toyota remains the leading hybrid brand in the Czech Republic, with 8,445 cars sold. Škoda Auto follows in second place with 5,607 hybrid vehicles, and Mercedes-benz secures the third position with 3,252 units. BMW and Dacia also demonstrate strong performance.
Škoda leads the plug-in hybrid market.In the pure electric vehicle segment, Škoda is the top seller with 3,122 electric vehicles, followed by Tesla (1,340 units) and Volkswagen (585 units). Hyundai and Kia round out the top performers.
