Oregon Lawmakers Receive Threats Following Charlie Kirk Assassination

SALEM, OR – September 12, 2025 – oregon⁣ State Police are investigating​ threats made ​against three​ Democratic state legislators following ‌the arrest ⁢of a ⁤suspect in the assassination of conservative activist Charlie kirk.The threats, ⁢delivered via email, prompted increased vigilance at⁣ the ⁤Oregon State Capitol.

According⁢ to⁤ a spokesperson for ​Oregon State Police, Senate President Rob Wagner (D-Lake⁣ oswego) and Senate Majority Leader Kayse Jama (D-Portland) both received threatening emails on⁤ Thursday evening. “the Oregon State Police is⁢ aware of ⁤the threats received today by three Oregon legislators‌ by email,” the spokesperson stated.”OSP is in communication with local ‌responding police agencies and ⁣monitoring the inquiry. The ​Capitol Mall Area Command provided an⁣ update⁣ informing legislators of the threats and asking all to remain vigilant​ and ‌report anything unusual‍ or‌ concerning.”

Senator James Manning Jr. ‌(D-Eugene) also⁣ received a specific threat – an emailed bomb threat. Eugene police Department responded⁤ with Patrol, Investigations, and the Metro Explosives Disposal unit,⁣ and confirmed no ⁤explosive‌ devices were found. “We were made ⁣aware of the threat toward Senator Manning ⁤and notified him ‍instantly,” said a spokeswoman for the Eugene ⁤Police Department.

The FBI ‌is assisting‌ Oregon State Police and local ⁢law enforcement ⁤in the investigation of the threats.

These threats‌ come ‍on ‍the heels of the arrest of Tyler Robinson, 22, ⁢in connection with the assassination of Charlie Kirk. The⁢ arrest was announced Friday morning by Utah governor Spencer Cox and the ​FBI.Authorities say robinson, originally from Utah, had expressed opposition to Kirk’s viewpoints ⁢to family members. evidence cited in⁢ the ‌arrest includes engravings ⁤on bullets recovered from a rifle believed to be the weapon ⁢used in the shooting, as well as messages from a chatting app shared by a roommate. ‌

President​ Donald Trump stated in a Fox News Channel interview that he believes authorities “With a high degree of‌ certainty, we have him,” referring to Robinson.

Robinson is believed to ‌have acted alone, and the investigation ​remains ongoing.
