Bills Injury Report: Oliver Out, Key Players Limited vs. Jets

by Alex Carter - Sports Editor

Buffalo Bills defensive tackle ed Oliver will miss Sunday’s game against the New York Jets⁤ due too an ankle injury‌ sustained during⁤ Wednesday’s ⁤practice, head coach Sean McDermott confirmed Thursday.

The loss of Oliver significantly impacts the Bills’ defensive ‍line, a key⁣ component of their success. His injury occurred when‌ he was stepped on during practice, and‍ his status will be re-evaluated next week. Several other‌ Bills players are managing injuries as the team prepares for their Week 2 matchup, creating uncertainty for Sunday’s game.

Cornerback Taron Johnson (quad), cornerback Tre’davious White (groin), defensive end Greg Rousseau (knee), tight end Dawson knox (hip), linebacker Shaq Thompson (hamstring/hand),⁤ and defensive⁤ back Jordan Hancock (shoulder) were all limited participants in ⁤practice this week.‌ Johnson and Thompson were⁣ limited on Thursday after missing Wednesday’s ‍practice entirely. White, returning from a groin injury that kept him out of Week 1, was ⁤limited in both Wednesday and Thursday’s practices.

“He’s had a pretty good week of getting back on the field, and we’ll see where today leads us,” McDermott said of white’s progress.

Running back James Cook (hamstring) and cornerback Brandon ⁣Codrington (knee) both began the week as‌ limited participants but achieved full ⁢participation in Thursday’s practice and are expected to practice Friday.

Rookie defensive back Jordan Hancock, who was a healthy inactive in Week 1, appears to be trending towards availability for Sunday. “We think‍ he’ll be available from a health standpoint, and we’ll see where that goes,” McDermott stated.

McDermott added, regarding Oliver’s injury,”Ed will be out this game. (He) got stepped on at practice ⁢on Wednesday,‌ regrettably. We’ll see where it goes into ‌next week as far as his status goes.”
