Apple TV+ has renewed its sci-fi epic Foundation for a fourth season, the streaming service announced today. The renewal arrives ahead of the season three finale, streaming Friday. Based on Isaac Asimov‘s seminal stories, Foundation chronicles a sprawling, centuries-spanning saga of humanity’s survival.
“There is no series quite like Foundation, and we feel lucky and honored to be carrying the torch forward as co-showrunners into season four,” said co-showrunners and executive producers Ian Goldberg and David Kob in a statement. “we look forward to continuing the epic, emotional, storytelling that defined the first three seasons of the show, and to be working alongside some of the most talented, passionate creative partners in the business.”
Matt Cherniss, head of programming at Apple TV+, added, “It’s been fantastic to watch Foundation become such a global phenomenon, with fans tuning in from every corner of the world. The series stars Jared Harris, Lee Pace and Lou Llobell, alongside laura Birn, cassian Bilton, Terrence Mann and Rowena Kingwith. Season three welcomed Cherry Jones,Brandon P. Bell, Synnøve Karlsen, Cody Fern, Tómas Lemarquis, Alexander Siddig, Troy Kotsur and Pilou Asbæk to the cast.
Foundation is produced by Paramount Television Studios. Ian goldberg and David Kob will executive produce season four with Bill Bost, Lee Pace, Michael Satrazemis, Robyn Asimov and David S.Goyer.
