Action Recalls 10kg Kettlebells:‌ Potential ⁤for Low-Level Radioactivity

Amsterdam, ‍Netherlands – Action is voluntarily recalling its 10-kilogram kettlebells sold in pink, blue, and gray between July 28th and August 8th, 2025, after trace amounts ⁢of radioactive substances‍ were⁤ detected. Customers who purchased the kettlebells are advised to return them to any Action store for a full refund.

The recall stems from the discovery that sand used as weight within the kettlebells naturally contains radioactive materials. While not all kettlebells are affected, and the levels vary, some exceeded legally permitted limits for radioactivity in consumer products, according to the⁤ Dutch Authority for Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection (ANVS).

Limited Health Risks

The ANVS has assured the public that the health risks associated with the kettlebells are ‍”very limited.” ⁢ In a statement,the ANVS explained that the radiation emitted,even from the kettlebells with the highest levels,is minimal. ⁢ “The​ radiation that is issued as a result is‍ still very ⁣small even at the Kettlebell with the largest amount of⁤ radioactive substances. If you keep such a kettlebell on​ yoru lap for ⁣an hour, the amount of radiation is comparable to a flight from Schiphol to Brussels. ​This is a harmless amount.”

The ⁢presence of radioactivity is attributed to naturally occurring radioactive materials found within the sand. Regulations exist to limit the amount of radioactivity allowed in consumer goods, and the recall is being⁤ conducted as a ⁢precautionary measure to ensure compliance.
