Auckland,New zealand – Veronica Kirisome has realised a decades-long ambition,graduating with a law degree from the University of Auckland and fulfilling a dream held by her parents for generations. The achievement is particularly poignant as Kirisome balanced her studies with a lifelong passion for kilikiti, a Samoan version of cricket, and a vision to establish a sports law agency.
Kirisome’s journey to becoming a lawyer wasn’t solely her own. Her success represents the culmination of her parents’ sacrifices and unwavering belief in her potential, a sentiment powerfully conveyed when her daughter, Lucía, delivered the news of her final exam pass to her grandparents in Brisbane, Australia. The emotional moment underscored the deep familial investment in Kirisome’s education and the realization of a shared aspiration.
A dedicated kilikiti player for 26 years, kirisome credits the sport with instilling valuable life skills.”It teaches me when to lead, when to perform, when to strategise,” she explained. she plays for the St Pius GI Girls, a team that has twice triumphed over opponents in international tours to Brisbane. “We play with a ball made out of rubber tree and a triangular bat. I love it. We’ve taken them out both times!”
Beyond her passion for kilikiti,kirisome is drawn to the field of sports law,fueled by her love of rugby and rugby league. She aspires to launch her own agency, combining her legal expertise with her intimate understanding of the sporting world.
