Skoda Previews Future Octavia wiht Vision O Concept in Munich

MUNICH – Skoda offered a first glimpse into the next generation of its popular Octavia model with the unveiling of the Vision O concept at an event in Munich. the prototype showcases a shift in Skoda’s design language and a commitment to both electric and traditional powertrain options. While embracing a modern,touchscreen-centric interior,Skoda is deliberately retaining physical controls – a design philosophy aligned with the broader VW Group strategy. Notably, the Vision O introduces a “smart patella” – a gesture control system intended to offer a more intuitive interface reminiscent of older, tactile control modules. The concept signals Skoda’s intent to offer a diverse lineup through 2035, balancing the demand for electric vehicles with continued production of hybrid and combustion engine models, possibly leading to two distinct production versions of the next octavia.

Skoda’s design team is moving away from the decade-long “Bohemia crystal” aesthetic, and a recent, more subdued reinvention, seeking a bolder and more attention-grabbing look.Company leaders believe the intermediate design phase failed to resonate strongly with owners, necessitating a fresh approach. The Vision O’s design is being touted as a substantially more original direction for the brand.
