Lithuanian Coach Kurtinaitis Requests Schedule Change Ahead of Greece Quarterfinal

Riga – Lithuania national ⁣basketball team coach Rimas Kurtinaitis is reportedly having trouble sleeping ​due to the late start time of Tuesday’s EuroBasket 2025⁤ quarterfinal matchup against Greece, and has requested​ a schedule adjustment from tournament organizers. The game is currently slated to begin at 9 p.m. local time.

Lithuania advanced to the quarterfinal round after defeating Latvia 88-78 in the eighth final, finishing second in Group B with a 4-1 record. Greece, winners of Group C (also 4-1), overcame a challenge from Ukraine, winning their playoff game 84-79. The winner of Lithuania versus Greece will face either Turkey or Poland in the semifinals. Kurtinaitis noted a “new wave of teams” emerging in the competition,and expressed​ unfamiliarity with a coach he encountered,stating a⁤ Latvian friend didn’t recognize him either until shown a photograph.⁣ Lithuania holds a 7-4 record against Greece in major tournament play, with eleven⁢ prior‌ confrontations between the two nations.
