President Prabowo Inaugurates Hajj and Umrah Ministers

Jakarta,⁤ Indonesia – September 8, ​2025 – President ⁣prabowo Subianto will inaugurate the ‍first Minister and Deputy‍ Minister of Hajj and Umrah this afternoon, formalizing the establishment of the newly formed ⁣Indonesian ⁤Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. the move‌ follows agreement‌ between ‌the⁤ government ⁣and the Parliament regarding a draft hajj ‍law.

Minister of State Secretary Hadi‍ Prasetyo announced at⁢ the State Palace today that President‌ Subianto has signed the ⁣decree establishing the ministry. “In accordance with the discussion by the DPR, relating to the draft Hajj law, then⁣ the government ⁤and the President ⁢have signed​ the formation⁣ of‌ the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah,” Prasetyo​ stated.

While the identities of the appointees were initially undisclosed, Mochamad irfan Yusuf, currently ‌the Head of ​the Hajj Organizing Agency (BP Haji), is slated to become the Minister of Hajj and Umrah.

President Subianto will​ concurrently sign a presidential Decree officially appointing the Minister and Deputy Minister. The formation​ of the ministry was approved by the‌ DPR and had been awaiting the Presidential Decree, according to ⁢Minister of Law ⁣Supratman Andi Agtas, ⁣who stated⁢ last⁤ Tuesday, August 26th, “The law‌ has been‌ approved, just waiting for the enactment and then ‍later waiting for the decision of the President.”

along ⁤with the⁣ Hajj and Umrah appointments, President prabowo also ‍replaced five other ministers:

  1. Coordinating Minister for Politics​ and Security: Budi Gunawan
  2. Minister‍ of Finance: Sri Mulyani
  3. Minister ‍of Protection of Indonesian⁢ Migrant Workers: Abdul Kadir Karding
  4. minister of Cooperatives: Budi Arie Setiadi
  5. Minister of Youth and sports: Dito Ariotedjo

The creation of a dedicated Ministry of‍ Hajj and ​Umrah reflects the⁢ Indonesian government’s commitment to‌ improving services and ‍oversight⁤ for the country’s meaningful annual Hajj​ pilgrimage.
