Bills Stun Ravens 41-40 in Dramatic sunday Night Football Opener
BALTIMORE, MD – Josh Allen orchestrated a stunning fourth-quarter comeback as the Buffalo Bills defeated the Baltimore Ravens 41-40 in a thrilling Sunday Night Football matchup. the Bills, trailing for much of the game, secured a walk-off 32-yard field goal from newly signed kicker Jason Prater as time expired.
Facing fourth-and-2 from the Baltimore 10-yard line, Allen completed a pivotal touchdown pass to Keon coleman. The play involved a tipped pass caught by Coleman, bringing the score to within eight points. Buffalo opted not to attempt a two-point conversion, leaving the score at 34-26.
Baltimore responded with a 13-yard run by Lamar Jackson, but the drive quickly turned disastrous. Ravens running back Justice Hill was stripped by Bills defensive tackle Ed Oliver, with Terrell Bernard recovering the fumble at the Baltimore 30-yard line. Allen capitalized, scoring a 1-yard rushing touchdown on four plays, but another two-point conversion attempt failed.
Despite failing on all three two-point conversion attempts, the Bills remained within striking distance, utilizing all three of their timeouts. A late Baltimore drive stalled after incompletions and a short gain, leaving Buffalo with possession on their own 20-yard line with 1:26 remaining.
Allen quickly moved the bills into field goal range with a 32-yard pass to Joshua Palmer, followed by an 11-yard connection with Coleman. Baltimore used its final two timeouts,but Prater’s 32-yard field goal sealed the victory. Prater was signed by the Bills this week after Tyler Bass was placed on injured reserve and had previously made a 43-yard field goal as time expired in the first half.
Allen finished the game with 394 passing yards on 33-of-46 attempts, with two touchdowns. He also rushed for 30 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries. Keon Coleman was a key target, recording eight receptions for 112 yards and a touchdown.
Lamar Jackson led the Ravens with a strong performance, but the late-game turnover proved costly.
The Bills move to 1-0 on the season and will face the New York Jets in Week 2. The Ravens fall to 0-1 and will host the Cleveland Browns in their home opener.
